The Spring Parade of Homes draws hundreds of people to our models in just a few short weeks. Some come to view the new trends to find inspiration for their own home, and others come to explore their opportunities of finding their way into a new home. Question is, what questions should you ask to be the most informed when purchasing a new home? We put together a list of seven questions to help you get the conversation started.

1. Is the lot cost included?

When you are scouting out a site for a new home within any community, it is important to consider that the lots in each community may come at a different price than the others. This is largely due to the type of lot, the size of the lot, and the lot’s location. However you go about selecting a lot within our communities, it is important to consider potential cost or premiums as you solidify the budget for your new home.

 

2. How long will it take to build a new home?

New construction cycle times can vary depending on the features and customization of the home. As you consider the closing on your current home or ending your lease, be sure to inquire about building cycle times as you plan your transition between residences.

3. What kind of warranty is offered on a new home?

An indefinite benefit to building a new home is the satisfaction and assurance knowing your home will be covered under warranty should something happen. 4. What finishes are included in the base price?

As you walk through our models, it is important to know that a model home is designed and built in a way that upgrades intentionally showcases the options of what you could do in your home should you choose to build. If you have a modest budget, be sure to ask what is included in the base price. The sales agent will be able to give you a great idea of how much bang you will get for your new home buck.

When you build a new home, the yard should match the novelty of your home. Be sure to ask what your landscaping options are when you move in. Although each neighborhood we build in offers a unique landscaping package,  each new Creative home includes landscaping to compliment your home.

6. Does the base price include a finished basement?

Finishing your basement is something many choose to delay when they build a new home; however, there is something to be said about finishing your home in it’s entirety when you build it. Although our base pricing does not include finishing the basement at the time of build, we have plenty of move-in ready homes with finished basements. If a Creative move-in ready home has a finished basement, then it is inherently included in the price of the home. You can view all of our move in ready homes here.

7. Does the community have an association?

In addition to your monthly mortgage payment, some communities also have a homeowner's association fee, commonly known as an HOA. This fee covers the maintenance of the entrance monument, landscaping of common areas, and other unique features of the community. As you look to find a new home, be sure to inquire about HOA fees. Some communities offer association maintenance meaning your snow removal, and lawn care will be taken care of and others do not have an HOA.
