Our Favorite 2018 Summer Cocktail Recipes

 

With the Fourth of July right around the corner, you may find yourselves either dreaming up a new cocktail recipe or stocking up on that notorious fireworks stash that gets a little bigger and a little better every year. Although many of us have our usual go-to’s, we have some great recipes to help you mix it up this year! (No pun intended) After plenty deliberation and taste testing, we have some incredible recipes to take your Fourth of July festivities to the next level. Start spreading the booze – It’s five o’clock somewhere folks!

Boozy Blackberry Mojito

First on the list is an incredible blackberry mojito which uses enough blackberries that it’s practically healthy! Paired with fresh mint and garnished with a stick of rock candy, you really can’t go wrong on this one.

 

 

Boozy Blackberry Mojito

Total Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup blackberries
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, extra for garnish
  • 1 lime, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz. White rum
  • 4 oz. Club soda, chilled
  • Ice cubes
  • 2 sticks of rock candy, for garnish

Instructions

  1. This marvelous mojito begins by whipping up a quick blackberry puree. Throw the blackberries, water, sugar, and salt in a small pan and cook on medium. Stir continually until thick. (3-5 mins) 

  2. Pour the mixture into a blender and puree until smooth. Strain out the seeds using a mesh strainer and pop it in the fridge to chill.

  3. While your puree is chilling in the fridge, be sure to muddle your garnishes.  In the bottom of a highball glass, muddle your mint and lime wedges together. Add ice.

  4. Pour the puree, rum, and club soda into your glass and give ‘er a whirl. Garnish your mojito with a heaping handful of fresh blackberries, a sprig of mint, a lime wedge or two, and a stick of rock candy. Enjoy!

Strawberry Lime Moscow Mule

Next up is the  Strawberry Lime Moscow Mule. Although traditional mules are a tried and true classic, the strawberry lime twist is the perfect combination for summer festivities. This recipe would be great in a pitcher for larger parties as well. Just be sure to muddle plenty of strawberries ahead of time and you’re set to go! It is a hassle-free recipe that packs a punch!

 

 

 

Strawberry Lime Moscow Mule

 

 
Prep Time 5 minutes
Servings 2

Ingredients

  • 3 oz. vodka
  • 6 oz. ginger beer
  • 1 handful of strawberries
  • 1 lime (slice 1/2 into wedges for muddling, other 1/2 for juice)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. 1. In a high ball glass, gently muddle your strawberries and lime wedges together.

    2. Pour the vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice over ice. 

    3. Garnish with strawberries and a lime wedge and enjoy!

Lemon Basil Margarita

This Lemon Basil Margarita is a wonderful spin on the classic marg recipe. The basil adds an amazing kick to this cocktail and would be great blended. Add in a taco bar and you're ready for a fiesta.

 

 

Lemon Basil Margarita

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 small lime
  • 2 oz. simple syrup (1:1 sugar and water)
  • 1 oz. triple sec
  • 1 1/2 oz. tequila
  • 4-5 small basil leaves
  • Ice
  • 1/4 c coarse sea salt
  • 1/4 c Sugar

Instructions

  1. In bottom of shaker, muddle the basil, lemon, and lime wedges together. Pour in the lemon juice, lime juice, simple syrup, tequila, triple sec. Shake, shake, shake! 

  2. Combine the coarse sea salt and sugar together on a plate. Wet the rim using lemon juice and coat rim with the sugar and salt mixture.

  3. Pour mixture over ice or blend. Garnish with lemon wedge. Cheers!

Rosemary Blueberry Smash Mocktail

We can't forget about the littles in our lives, so we put together this incredible Rosemary and Blueberry Smash Mocktail. We added more honey and blueberries for a bit more flavor, but if you want to keep it more tart, add more lemon!

 

 

Rosemary Blueberry Smashed Mocktail

 
 
Prep Time 5 minutes
Servings 2

Ingredients

  • 1 handful blueberries
  • 1 sprig rosemary, stripped
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 c sparkling water
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Muddle blueberries, rosemary leaves, and honey in the bottom of a shaker. Add lemon juice, and shake covered with ice for 10 seconds. 

  2. Strain mixture through a mesh strainer into tall glass of ice. Top with sparkling water and stir. Garnish with extra blueberries and enjoy!
