Designed to provide you with an unmatched customer experience before, during, and after the construction of your brand new home, learn more about what happens at each step of our process below!
Sign the Purchase Agreement
This is where you buy your Creative home! By now you should have selected your desired floor plan and homesite within the community. Your New Home Specialist will walk you through each step of this purchase agreement to help you understand everything that is being covered. At this point, everything becomes official and the process begins!
Earnest Money Check
When you sign your purchase agreement, you will submit an earnest money check to the New Home Specialist. This simply represents that you are ready and willing to move forward and allows us to get started on your plans.
Structural Review & Sign-Off
After your New Home Specialist receives your preliminary set of plans, you will have a structural review meeting with your New Home Specialist to review your plans. This is where you will review all of your selected plan options and review the structure of your home! Once everything is good to go, you will then approve on the plans for your home!
Apply for Financing
After signing a purchase agreement, you will have 30 days to receive a pre-approval letter from a lender of your choice. At Creative Homes, we have three preferred lenders that we work with: Waterstone Mortgage in Woodbury, Union Home Mortgage in Lake Elmo, and Tradition Mortgage in Woodbury. Your lender will be involved throughout the construction of your home, to ensure your financing is squared away prior to close.
Design Studio Appointments
Your Design Studio Specialist will contact you shortly after you sign off on your plans to schedule your Design Studio Appointments. Our Design Studio Specialists are ready to guide you through personalizing your brand-new Creative Home in our design center in Woodbury! Your first Design Studio Appointment will be roughly 4 hours with a second follow up meeting lasting around 2-3 hours. Please make arrangements for childcare during these appointments.

Homeowner Pre-Build Orientation
Prior to breaking ground on your homesite, you will meet with your New Home Specialist and Neighborhood Builder to verify your plans and homesite survey. This is a great opportunity for you to ask questions about the “nuts and bolts” of your home and to understand the construction process.
Prior to the installation of your mechanical systems such as your electrical, heating, cooling, and plumbing, you will go on a Pre-Drywall Tour with your neighborhood builder. At this meeting, you will verify the location of the outlets and switches in your home.
Visiting Your Home During Construction
You are welcome to visit your homesite accompanied by your Neighborhood Builder or New Home Specialist throughout the construction of your home. At Creative Homes, safety is our number one priority, so we ask that you always wear close toed shoes, and a hard hat which the Neighborhood Builder or New Home Specialist will provide you when necessary. Please do not enter your home without a Creative Homes representative with you.
Closing Date Scheduled
As the completion of your new home nears, we will contact you to schedule your closing date. Our goal is to provide you with a closing approximately 30 days prior to completion.
Welcome Home Orientation
Your Welcome Home Orientation is an introduction to your new home and its many features. During this Orientation, we will:
Demonstrate the features of your new home.
Verify that your selections are installed per plan and identify corrections that need to be addressed, if any.
Review our Warranty Process including discussing the 60-day & 11-month check ins.
Closing on Your New Home
This is where you become Creative Homes homeowner! At the closing table, you will be handed the keys to your new home! We will guide you every step of the way through the signing process and work with your lender to help you understand what you will need to bring to the closing table. From this point on, Welcome Home to your brand-new Creative Home!
Follow Up Survey
60 days after you close on your new home, you will be sent a survey form a third-party survey company called Constellation Homebuilder Systems. Please take time to fill out this survey as it provides us with important information on how to continue to improve our business to provide you and future homeowners with an unmatched customer experience.
We will contact you to schedule a warranty check in within 60 days after closing, and 11 months after closing. During these check ins, we will review your home, and address any concerns you may have, if any, regarding the warrantable items of your home.
